Where Our Interests Meet….Kinky & Surprising?

I met a polyamorous person this year, in the wild, at a wholly unrelated event. He was a photographer, I was a participant. Somehow we started talking about the Venn diagrams of neurodiverse people, which frequently overlap with Dungeons & Dragons, board gamers and Renaissance Faires. (see above.)

It didn’t take long to come upon this:

Hilarious, but also, I want to make these observations about our kinkster friends…we do have a lot of things in common and there may be reasons why:

At a meet up last year, we had people note with hashmarks any areas where they identified, and these were some quite common ones:

• ADHD / autism: we don’t think like other people, and over time we’ve gotten tired of trying to. We’d rather hang out with people who enjoy unconventionality. Also, we like clear rules! See also, caffeine addicts, perching on furniture, distractability and trouble sticking with things.
• Intense and thrilling hobbies: many of us are dopamine seeking…
